The off road pro is the same as the TRD pro. The only thing the pro has is a sliding cargo bay, which then again some don't come with. A first aid kit with Velcro on it to stick to the back of the seat, the nitto tires, fox shocks on the front ( i believe the 2020's have a rear fox shock now). The TRD pro also comes with the iconic wheels. I thought the TRD PRO didn't have a moon roof and only the Canadian version did but I guess the pro now comes with it, as well as the side markers on the mirror. The front grill is different on the Pro, skid plate and blacked out logos's I believe are the differences.

In 2018 people would buy the TRD PRO, then buy the RAV4 mirrors and replace them (because they have the side markers) and some other things to make it look like the premium edition.

If you do the lift yourself you'll save a ton on labor. A lift can cost up to $500+ for someone to install. Here is a quick break down of adding mods.

TRD wheels $1000 wTax (Any decent wheels will run $250 a piece.) - I got mine for $210 ea, and I've seen them go for $180 but very few I've seen at this price
Mudder tires (other than stock) - $900-1000 wTax
Lift Kit $500-$900 depending on the brand
    Black out logos $40
    Skid Plate $220
    TRD Grill $400

    So let's say $2400-$2700

If you get the Off road pro model, I believe these come in around 41-42K which you'd still be way under the cost of the pro with those added features by a few thousand. You probably don't even need a locker unless you want to do serious off roading and you already do it a lot, therefore you could just get the SR5 Premium model at around 38K

Toyota will charge upwards $5500 for the TRD model, and sometimes more. I've seen the PRO models hover at the 49K-54K price range. Of course you can always find the deal and get lucky but that won't be the average find.

I went to the same dealership last fall to look up a 2020 sr5 runner .. same as my 2016 sr5.
sticker price was $3K more than my 2016 runner.
I was surprised that they had a few 2019 runners on the lot. they were all black and most limited models.
when I purchased my 2016 in July 2016 they only had used runners on the lot.
In snow country these are selling more , because of snow road issues.
problem with these for me is , the seating is not comfortable. no failures .. I have to use a seat cushion and a lumbar support .. prior to the cushion add on my AZZ does not cause pain/circulation threw my legs.. cushion works good on long drives..
I only buy new vehicles over 50yrs. this is the first vehicle that never went back to dealership..
I do have to bring it back next month for the air bag job...hopefully they will not break up stuff..
Acton Toyota setup my 2016 runner for delivery. never went to dealership on the delivery acceptance ... 6 weeks later the sales guy called me up , said your runner is now coming off the delivery truck.. went up the next day and did the deal .. got 2K off the total sticker price .. I drove it 50 miles before the deal.. sales guy said you can run it for a day ..

Any 20 owners have any feedback on the new safety sense features? I really hate them in my Honda and I am worried I am going to feel the same way about Toyota's. There's still some 19 4Runner's out there on dealer lots...

I think they are great, n=1, and this is my first vehicle with advanced safety tech, but it’s all good, the adaptive cruise control is really nice, the lane departure defaults to off- so you choose when you have it on, works well and un-obstrusively. Only had the PCS (auto-braking) come on once so far in 3+ months, but I’m glad it came on

Honestly...I wouldn’t want any of those features standard expect for maybe a V8 motor and it really depends on what is the other motor choice. Headlights would be a very welcome upgrade... In my opinion those are only slight creature comforts but with large price increases. I love the simplicity of the 5th gen and wouldn’t want to pay the extra cost for such small improvements.

And as far as push start NO THANK YOU. Car thefts are up significantly in regards to newer models (where I live) and I believe it is due to the theives having the ability to hack these keyless remotes.

I currently have the 2020. I went to Tahoe and the PCS came on twice due to sudden stop traffic. Honestly, Im glad i had it. I also have a 2000 SR5. so coming from a car with no tech to a car with some tech is always a plus. I would be jealous of the year 2021, 2022 + owners. Its always the issue with technology and new cars. either you purchase or just keep waiting. I waited for push start and a 8inch display. Push Start and Smart Key are amazing when you have a child in one arm and groceries in the other. Anyone can knock on the idea but once you have it I bet you wont replace it back to key required start. i wish it had a push/sensor rear liftgate. I dont get why it isnt standard. My moms 2012 Highlander has it.

Safety tech is always good but more features still need a lot of work. I have two children and keyless entry is great on my wife’s Highlander. However the technology is also out there to get into her and your vehicle in seconds. Especially newer model Toyota’s and Honda’s...for what ever reason I don’t know. There will always be car thefts and break-ins but lately it’s seems you don’t even need to “break-in” them any more to access the interior.

Adaptive cruise control is with the price of admission....I turned off the lane departure. Also, the new head unit is light years better and Apple CarPlay is amazing. These are the things I wanted and the reason I waited for a 2020, but it's all personal preference.

I like the adaptive cruise control. I am not a fan of the lane keep assist.

^same here, not a fan of lane departure warning. Same as my 2018 ford, its dependent on road markings being clear and precise. It works great on maintained highways (I still use it on longer road trips) but round here the city road markings stink rendering it a pita with false alerts.
One plus of the 4runner over the ford! 4runner is a beep warning only. Ford has steering correction and I had to wrestle with the steering wheel to stay on the actual road. Ford had a program similar to Carista and I permanently disabled it on the ford!

I had this happen to me a few years ago when Ram first came out with uConnect, thieves drove around neighborhoods clicking their hacked phone/app and when a dodge/ram/chrysler interior lights lit up they knew they were in.

That video is a real eye-opener! Unbelievable how easy it is to hack someone with minimal information. Scary, really.
