Mall Crawler Lift

My 4runner is a daily driver. I want to do a budget lift that does not break the bank. I see pucks are not expensive. What do you all suggest?

 

5100’s all around. Wheelers t13 coils in the rear.

I'll second this.

Bilstein also makes lift coils for the rear. You can check bilsteinlifts.com for those options.

 

i personally think the Bilstein coils for the rear aren’t stiff enough. You’ll have the same roll as stock

 

I hope the heavy duty coils are OK. They're rated for 400# constant load, so that might help.

 

If you're doing this you may as well spend $150 more and get T1 coils up front (Billies at 0), then you'd have a legit functional lift.

 

I've had both Bilstein and Eibach and much prefer the smoother riding Eibach kit personally... On the other forum there's quite a few people who swap from Bilsteins to Eibach and are happier. Just my .02 cents.

 

Which Bilstein kit were you running?

I went with Bilstein 6112's because there weren't a lot of options with adjustable height, and the digressive valving makes sense to me (in theory).

I'll have it installed in a few weeks, so we'll see how it is in real life.

 

I just had 5100s and I think they were old man emu coils, can't remember the exact ones right now. It's nearly 2am and I'm getting my drink on

I just remember the ride being rougher after install, unlike the Eibach kit, it rides smoother off-road and nose dive is gone, body roll too. For the price I think the Eibach is excellent.


I'd love some Kings, hell long travel and all... But I can't justify it when I'm perfectly happy with the ride and how it sits.

 

Yeah, I would run Kings if I wanted to rebuild them every year. I'm hoping that the Bilstein setup is good for me. I surely can't argue one way or another until I get them on the truck.

 

Eibachs have digressive valving as well. The difference (when compared to 5100's) is that Eibachs have a bleeder valve early in the suspension travel. This makes the shocks much less jarring at slow speeds. When you start using more of the suspension travel at higher speeds and bigger hits, they both perform very similarly. I too prefer the Eibachs over the Bilsteins (5100's) for that reason.

But you should be fine with the 6112's. It sounds like the valving of the 6112's fit our trucks better when compared to the 5100's according to the feedback I've heard, but I don't have any personal experience with them. The downside to the 6112s when compared to the Eibachs is that they are a bit more expensive.

 

Thanks for the input! I'll definitely consider Eibach the next time I change it up. The valve you mentioned almost sounds like a bypass type of setup.

Who knows, maybe I'll be doing it all again in a year or two anyway

Can't say the same for the 5100's. You hear mixed reviews on those. I've had them feel great on some vehicles (Ford F150) and not so great on others (Nissan Frontier and 4Runner).
