LED lights affecting DRLs

Does anyone know of an LED brand that will work with my 2020 4Runner nightshade edition without disabling the DRLs. I purchased Xenon high and low beams had them installed and the DRLs were flickering. The company said that their product works only when you disable the DRLs. They said that the anti flicker doesn’t work. Thanks!!

 

I saw pictures of owners installing LED lamps and the OEM lamp illumination looked very close to the LED change. they had to install the anti flickering kit for toyota.
because I dug into this I will not change the OEM lamps.. the other PITA is lamp adjustment setting.

 

I bought Xtreme LED Pros from Xenondepot for my high/low beams in my 2020 TRD ORP. They sell a driver for the high beams so that you can use the DRLs without the flickering. Love the lights, they're super bright!

 

I just ordered a set of these for my high beams for this exact reason. Went with HID's for the projector low beams.

 

I have DDM Tuning Saber 50w Pro in 3k (yellow) and they don’t flicker. Not to mention the color is awesome!!

 

Pics? While drl dimmed and high beam pls. I’m interested since these apparently don’t require a separate drl driver

 

I had the XD DRL drivers that allow them to dim for DRL use. I'm back to halogen now though, 9011 bulb has much higher performance and better focus. I might try to sell these dumb LED bulbs now.

 

I’ll try and get some today. Will probably be tomorrow. I’m going to covert to there HID kit soon.

 

I picked up the Headlight Revolution SV-4 LED Headlights Hi and Low Beams. The High Beams come with an additional resistor unit that eliminates the flicker issue. My only complaint is I need to adjust the beams down on the Lows. There plenty bright though.

 

I know this isn't the solution you were looking for, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to mention.

I had this problem when I upgraded my lights to LED as well. Toyota uses auscultating voltage on the stock halogen high beams which creates half the intensity of the normal light output of the halogen high beams. But, this auscultating voltage is too rapid for LEDs to register a brief moment of no power, resulting in the high beams being at full power all the time. I first noticed the issue when I would go from lights off, to normal low beam on, the high beams would flash as I passed through DRL... That got annoying fast. I was shown how to disable the DRL headlights by means of pressing a pin out of the way on a relay in the fuse box under the hood. This turns off ONLY the headlights while running on DRLs, it does not affect the normal high/low beam when used at night. It also does not affect the Amber side markers, which was perfect because I ended up installing Amber grill lights and used the side markers as the power source for them. Here is a picture of which pin to press down, if you decide to do it this way. It's reversible, and free.

 

All of these problems go away when you get rid of "upgraded" LED bulbs and use performance halogen bulbs. Plus you'll get actual distance vision again, instead of just near-field brightness.

 

Never had a "near-field" issue with my LEDs. I can see clearly up to about 100' or so. The light is much clearer than the stock halogens, in my opinion the LEDs are the best bang for the buck.

 

I disagree, but only because headlights are supposed to reach further than 100 feet. At 70mph, 100 feet passes by in less than a second.

Ok, I thank you for the link. I assure you that your opinion has been noted. I am not the best judge of distance, but I can see far enough with my head lights to not be worried about something coming up on me without enough time to react. Everyone likes different things, and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

 

Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion, but opinions do not change facts. Halogen housings work best with halogen bulbs. I do encourage everyone to do their research, and that thread is a great start. I went through the whole "upgraded LED" phase myself, and spent a significant amount of money doing so. Now I use H9 and 9011 halogen bulbs, which cost approximately $7 and $15 respectively at any auto parts store.

 

if your driving at night a lot with halogen lamps,, the lamps need replacing.. new bulbs should provide a brighter view.
I have LED lamps in my house save cost on the electric bill.. but as time passes I have to replace the LED lamps because the brightness reduces over time..

Oh they look better than I thought. I may need to spring the $95 on Amazon for them.

 

I installed these and they're still kind of bright for DRL's IMO plus mine have a slight flicker. I'm on the fence about them right now.

 

I have read about this same flickering issue from multiple people who bought the DRL driver set ($60) for the Xtreme LED 9005 ($120). Don’t waste any more mental anguish. Just go back to halogen Highs or get the $95 DDM Saber Pro 9005 LED (3000k or 6000k), which are built-in dimmable 50W with no flicker as a result, and thus do not need a DRL driver.

 

So glad I got HIDs, zero issues and much better performance than halogen or LEDs

Only if you get the DRL modules (purchased separately). If you use what's in the box, you get full high-beam brightness with flicker.

 

Given the amount I actually use the high beams, I think I'm gonna part way with LED's in the high beams, and go back to halogens.

I have the 9011 bulbs in. They fit right in after a simple trim tab with a pair of sharp wire snips. H9 in the low beams work great too.

 

I thought this Halogen, HID and LED d*ck size comparison died several post ago. I guess some still think there’s is bigger.
