A good and inexpensive Scanner (notjust a code reader)

I just got a PicoScope 2205A and it s pleasure to use and see what we can peek at. But a Data Scanner is what I have a need for. I have SCANLX for my 1998 Silverado and also MT-2500 (the brick) for OBD-II.

Now looking for advise on what to use for my 3VZ-E that is driving me crazy with probably wire harness messed up or timing issues.

Can anyone share their experience with an OBD-I scanner for the 4Runner.

Please do not suggest the "paper clip" I use that, but I need DATA live.
    Thanks

Scangauge II? Or Ultragauge? IF you need something fancier than those I have no idea. Good luck finding the problem.

My bad, saw OBD-II in the first part of your post and the rest is history. Good luck with finding what you need

I get your desire for a particular scanner for live data. I appreciate it.
You also wrote - perhaps a messed up wiring harness, or timing issues.
Beyond the desire for the scanner, are those other issues of concern something you are struggling with?

I seriously doubt you will find anything that will be a plug and play scanning solution for OBD-I which is what the 3VZ-E is all about. A timing light and a tachometer and a DVM that perhaps is a Fluke with an active display might provide some scope like ability to stream information. But this is OBD-I and the standard was only fully standardized with OBD II in 1996.
