5th gen what radio upgrade did you do

Alphine halo9 couldn't stand the factory radio wasn't powerful enough

 

Looks good, how well did it interface with the rest of the runner? Hard to see in the pic, guessing the bezel is a carbon fiber look to match the Runner?

 

What sucks with this Alpine unit, and others, is only having one USB input. This is where Kenwood seems to win out. I want to be able to keep my usb w/60g of music plugged in and still have an extra port to plug in for CarPlay.

 

Have you discovered Bluetooth music? I’m not at all trying to be facetious, I recently joined the digital age about 3 years ago.

 

Sure... I love Spotify and Pandora. But I have a shot ton of music on a USB drive that I listen to a lot as well; Inwould hate to give that up.

I’d prefer an Alpine head unit over Kenwood for sure - I hate all the left over dash space with a double din.

Emerson rocks....my brother had that exact stereo back in the 80's. A few years later only the removable speakers remained. I daisy chained them together with another set of removable speakers from a cheap boom box using a cheap 100ft roll of 18awg Radio Shack speaker wire and had my first "surround sound" system in my bedroom in 7th grade. Think I used stereo component cables tied into a VCR that had an UHF/VHF tuner built in. Man I miss watching Night Court reruns after the 10 O'clock news and dad getting pissed because it was too loud.

 

Yeah I always had my iPod. around 2015 when it died I found they ran around $400. Kid at the store goes just buy a thumb drive and be done with it. I was amazed how much faster it was over the iPod, and was cheap. couple years later I dumped it for streaming. Something about 20 million songs on demand seems so much better. Now I have a couple grand in CD's and iTunes that are worthless.

 

i just did this myself. Works great with some minor annoyances. I’m having a fun little Siri/Phone issue where it’s trying to route through Bluetooth and not CarPlay so I can’t hear any of it.
I’m thinking of getting a brake defeater to have the Settings available at all times.
