Seems like we are the only ones having this issue.
The "accessory not supported" message came back and keeps on flashing in my phone. Nothing, nada, zero about carplay in my headunit.

I was told by the dealer I purchased my car not to hard reset by unplugging the battery.

Performed the software update and nothing....I am starting to think that my car came defective maybe with a hardware issue?

Anyone with similar issue that had a fix on this "new/unique problem"? This is very frustrating.....

Sorry I can't help with the car play but ^ that is a mistake to listen to the dealer. I've had my battery out a couple times with only thing lost on radio was the time and once it found itself, corrected itself.

I just got back from dealership! I have 2020 4Runner nightshade with 11 pro max phone. Dealership did the update to 1047, and CarPlay seems to be working fine now. I took my iPad in with me to help explain the issues etc..and it took about 30 minutes. So far so good!

    I will test this then.

I am so frustrated with mine not working even after the software update.
Did you guys all connected through the toyota app in your phone? Can this be the cause for the accessory not supported message in my phone? I couldn't connect/login to my app using my vin because it says "VIN ASSOCIATED WITH ANOTHER CUSTOMER". Do you guys think this could be the issue?

I have my hands attached now because I call toyota and they tell me to go through the dealer, dealer says to go through the SOS button in the car and the SOS button service tells me to call Toyota....its a never ending cycle.

Did they swap your radio out? They did mine day of purchase then mine didn't register like your saying. I had to go back and they programed the new radio to my vin.

Never had a headunit swap from what I know. What was the cause for yours? Because everything works except for connecting to carplay through the USB port, and the message that pops in my phone....bluetooth and calls are fine.

They swapped mine at delivery because the dealer prep guy scratched the screen.

I assume you did it yourself by unhooking the battery? Does unhooking the battery result in losing all the settings to the radio as well?

Hey buddy, could you post the files somewhere for the rest of us poor chaps who also hate going to the dealer.

Guys, I went to the service department of my dealership and the guy there straight up lied to my face. It was such a jerk move because he knows I can't say anything since I need him to do this update. You know what he says, he tells me they might need to keep my truck for 3 or 4 hours because sometimes the updates can take a while and they can't unplug the computer from the vehicle until the update is done. What he really meant was that their service department is crap and they can't guarantee they'll get to my truck in time. So then after they call me 3 hours later, I check to see if it's been updated and it's not. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps the 1047 update isn't available in Canada? But they still lied to me. I think all the guy did was try to pull the update over the air, saw it's not available and tried to bullshit me.

Here we go. Sorry for delay I was at work

Please read carefully because Im not responsible if you screw everything up. I was doing this update on my own risk. have been downloaded those files from Toyota Tech Website. Paid for 2 day subscription. I don't know if it will work with Canada 4Runners. I assume that it will work.

    Good luck.

Man I cannot believe all the issues posted about the car play with the new iPhone. I think I better hold onto my 7plus. I don’t want to go thru all this shit with a new iPhone.

I just downloaded these files on a USB drive and installed them on my 2020 Limited. Easy peasy. It took all of 10 minutes. I went from 1021 to 1047. Thank you VERY much!

well...I spoke too soon. After a day of working fine it reverted back. My whole radio is having issues. Freezing up not just on CarPlay, but Satellite and FM. The volume controls would do nothing, and couldn't change source etc...The CarPlay went out again completely and when it came back, it was intermittently going out. Not sure if this update is the life saver we were all hoping for. I am so frustrated with this. I should have waited til mid year to buy new Toyota, let the kinks get worked out.

same here except in my case, I never had apple carplay to work since day one.
I am going to drop off my car at the dealer next week and seems like the only solution so far its a head unit swap for. Tried everything but still does not work.

Reading different stories here. Questions on the phones you are using. Just curious. I have not had any trouble with my iPhone 7plus since I got my AG Pro. Just checking to see if it is just the newer phones. It may not even be toyotas Apple play.

Updated my 2020 TRD Pro this morning and I no longer have a CarPlay calling issue with my iPhone 11 Pro. Thanks @davidgasparyan for posting the files.

I was on software version 1007-audio and 1006-navigation. And now I'm on 1047-audio and 1030-navigation.

Some other pieces of feedback regarding phones. I got the iPhone 11 Pro on November 2nd, my previous phone was an iPhone X (work) and iPhone XR (personal). I've owned the 2020 4Runner since September 23rd and did NOT have any issues with phone calls while connected with CarPlay with my "older" iPhones (X and XR).

Only when I upgraded phones to the iPhone 11 Pro, is when I couldn't make calls while the phone was connected via CarPlay.

Thank for the update. That seems where all the issues are with the iPhone 11.
