I currently have Bilstien 5100 on all 4 corners. I have 1 rear leaking and am going to buy 2 new rear shocks. This thing is a pavement pounder only, is there a better rear shock option than the 5100's for ride ?

KYB’s provide a nice ride. Cheap too. Not as stiff as Bilsteins.

Pavement pounder and your 5100 failed after two years? That's weird.

You're not going to get a much better ride leaving everything else stock than the 5100. Remember the shocks only dampen, they don't actually control the ride like the springs do.

Might as well throw another 5100 in there.

Edit: Your shocks have a warranty against defects. Hit Bilstein up and see what they say.

I have a 1996 sedan. biltstien shocks have been in it for 15years no leaks..
I have another truck bilstien shocks still working for 18years.I did have to replace my rear ones because of a rust problem.. 15yrs on my snow truck in rear so a rust issue.

so did you install them ? I did not have to pay for the rusted ones .. I keep the receipts..

Probably just a bad shock. Anything man made fails eventually. Some fail sooner cuz shit happens.

Talk to bilstein about it. See if they can offer you a rebuild or replacement. 2 years is pretty quick for one to fail.

Did you purchase from an authorized dealer/distributor? If you purchased from Amazon they won't have a warranty. Also there is always the possibility if you didn't purchase from an authorized dealer/distributor they may be knock-offs.
