Interior lights stopped turning on when door is opened

What stops interior lights from coming on when door is open on a 02

 

Is the bulb burned out? Does it have a switch?

 

^^Check this first.

Also, have you tried all of the doors? In case it could be the switch at the driver's door.

 

Or the dome light switch not set to "Door"

 

When in doubt it’s ok to read your manual.

You know that bible inside your glove box?

 

I downloaded my manual from Toyota's website. I keep the analog version in the glove box, but it's nice to be able to look at it without having to be in the car.

 

I have to confess, I’ve never actually “read” mine but I have looked up the occasional thing.

 

I just look at mine for fluid capacities because I never remember.

 

I'd bet overhead switch not on "door" setting specially in a new vehicle, however on an '02 who knows with it being that old.

 

Did you ever figure out what it was?

 

The little switch on the door frame gets flakey after many years. It has a black rubber boot on it, try wiggling it and I bet your light will come on.
