I have a 2018 SR5 without the smart key. Page 101 of the owners manual explains how to turn off the auto door lock/unlock. My truck doesn’t respond to that method. Am I missing something?

Yes. That’s the method my manual spells out. It doesn’t work for me. I’ve even tried manually doing that lock/unlock bit at the end. Anyone else try this and find a successful trick to doing it?

The carista has that function. It (the carista) is $20, but that doesn't explain why it doesn't work if done the way the manual says. I guess I have half of your answer. Try the carista and if it doesn't work. Dare I say... Take it to a dealer if under warranty.
    Best of luck!

I've never figured it out. Sometimes it stays unlocked all night in the garage and sometimes it doesn't.

can you try to hold lock/unlock at same time. It’s suppose to switch modes.

    Reviving a Zombi here.

I have the same problem as the OP. Follow the directions in the manual and......no go.

More often than not, on my '18 SR5 the doors lock after 2 mins., and the manual switch on the door also will not function. (Glad the window was down that time.) I have to use the fob.

I would like the auto-lock disabled.

    Has anybody found the secret?

My experience has been that if I unlock the doors and don't open one of them, the car will re-lock itself within a couple of minutes. If I unlock the vehicle and then open a door, it will remain unlocked indefinitely. Mine is a 2019 ORP if it makes a difference (shouldn't in my best estimation).

I did get it turned off on my 2018. You have to follow the direction to the tee and that means use a stopwatch for the timing.
I was only trying to turn off the auto lock when going in or out of park. I believe mine still re-locks the doors if you unlock them but don’t open a door.

I haven't tried the "open-a-door-after-unlock" trick. I never thought about doing that. Thanks guys.
    I'll give it a try.

Chris, thank you very much for the secret code. Gotta open a door after unlock. At least it worked last night and again this morning.

The carista dongle and app can turn this off. Also the dealer can do it.

Glad it worked for you! Frustrated me for a while until I sorted out the secret sauce.
