Has anyone in the area ever done The Wisconsin Adventure trail? It starts down near Galena, IL and ends in Superior. It was originally a bike trail but with a little adaptation to go around the ATV trails it can be done in ORVs. Some friends and I are going to run all 610 miles, but the only time we can all get together is in late September.

New Wisconsin guy, here. Transferred from Tacomaworld.

I'm actually thinking about taking a ride out to Grant County today and checking out a portion of the T.W.A.T.

Hope to see/meet some of the members here at an event.

We're trying to put together a gathering on Tacomaworld. I'm lobbying for a gathering of any Toyota trucks/4×4's.

I'll post any information about it here as things come together

Green Bay here. I’ve watched a few YouTube videos of people doing that trail. Always wanted to give it a go, but haven’t yet.

    Your 4Runner's looking good man!
How are you liking it compared to your taco?
I'm picking one up Monday if all goes well. Looking forward to catching up at a meet to check out your build

Thanks! I'm absolutely loving it! The ride is nicer. The motor feels more refined and you definitely notice the extra power. It's quieter.

I recommend getting one with KDSS unless you plan on doing a significant lift.

I might be a bit biased as I owned two 4runners before the Tacoma. But, I really think it's better in almost every way.

Are you keeping the Tacoma? Or trading in?

I'm really hoping to get a Wisconsin Tacoma/4runner/any Toyota 4×4 gathering of some sort put together soon. It's been hard to get people committed, though.

Either way, good luck Monday! Congratulations in advance! I can't imagine you'll be disappointed in any way, except for the stock tires

I think this picture is a good display of the amount of flex allowed by the KDSS. Of course, it would probably just be a hindrance if you plan on lifting it very high

I'm purchasing from a private seller, so unfortunately KDSS isn't an option. I'll be keeping the Tacoma and hopefully keeping thr 4runner close to stock for a long time. Once the weather warms up a little more it'll be easier to get some people together.

Not sure whether I belong here or not but I am so close to Wis I may as well be part of dairy country. I am in far northern Illinois, about 5 miles from the border, east side. I would be up for a road trip to hit the trail if anyone is hitting it.

Cool! Looking forward to a gathering of any type. Maybe a group cruise up the T.W.A.T this spring. Also hoping to do a camping outing up near the pipeline.

    What year 4runner? Trim, ETC?

Welcome! I've been thinking about coming down to Illinois for a meet sometime as well. I'll definitely post here if I make any plans to hit the trails. Hope to meet you sometime this spring/summer.

I might try again to get a few guys together somewhere in southeastern Wisconsin next Sunday as this weekend sort of flew by

FYI, a few guys are meeting at Potosi brewery tomorrow at 11am for lunch and hitting the T.W.A.T.

No real plans. Just lunch and a cruise down the back roads.

If anyone's interested, message me or just show up at the brewery tomorrow.

I'll be the guy with the 4runner:D

Saw this today on my way home from a trail run with a bunch of guys from Tacomaworld.

Anybody here? 3rd gen, I think, only because my '94 had a different tailgate set-up.

    Good looking truck!

I hope we can manage a get together sometime. Another MKE-area friend and I may start planning a Nicolet trip for spring.

I'll probably arrange a Potosi brewery/ T.W.A.T run sometime in April. I did this last year with @Ajmogen and some other Tacomaworld guys and it was fun.

There are a lot of cool, poorly maintained roads in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Just be sure to get a Motor Vehicle Usage Map and use it. The Pipeline is closed for a few months every spring and re-opens in June.

I helped arrange a handful of events this past year in Wisconsin. I'll definitely post here about anything I hear about in the Midwest.

We did a camping trip last September and had 11 trucks hit the Pipeline for a day of shenanigans. I will repeat that next September most likely.

How well equipped does one need to be to partake in those sorts of shenanigans (physically, mentally, mechanically)? I have zero experience with this sort of thing, but my midlife crisis tells me I need to do it!

I'm not on Facebook, but I've been considering joining just to get involved with these groups.

I have only been off-roading for the last 2 years. I have mostly gone alone, so I've been trying to use common sense and approach things slowly. I also went with a few more experienced guys last year, and they helped me gain confidence in this truck.

The vast majority of what I've seen in Wisconsin has been do-able with a stock truck. The one thing that I think is necessary is better tires. The Dunlops are not going to do much off-road in my opinion.

Aside from tires, skid plates are a smart investment. I have already smashed the stock one. Rock sliders also help protect the rocker panels as you go over obstacles.

Keep posting here if you want to get out and check out some trails. I'm always looking for an excuse to put it in 4WD:)

Also, I'm not sure if you saw my post in the other thread, but I have a rooftop cargo carrier that I might like to sell. In case you haven't bought one yet
