Ok.... For anyone who may be following along waiting on a happy ending to this horror story... Get in line, because today is NOT the day for that.

Lets just back up to the beginning and summarize the whole thing first...

    1. Dropped vehicle off for oil change, while changing oil they stripped the bolt and left it to slowly drain out and spit oil all over my undercarriage.
    2. Brought it back to dealership to get fixed and cleaned up. They kept the vehicle overnight to order the bolt giving them time to clean as well.
    3. They replaced the bolt, stopping the leak, but didnt clean the undercarriage. And they chipped the paint in my door.
    4. I leave vehicle again for them to actually clean the under carriage, afterwards they take it to the toyota collision center to fix the door.
    5. The collision center repaints the door, but while putting the door handle back on they chip the fresh new paint and put a few scratches under the door handle.

And 6...... Today i get a call from the collision center's secretary telling me i can finally come get my vehicle, its all finished up... Been a long week and a half so im pretty happy at this point... I gas the rental up and start heading that way... I get half way there and get a call telling me DONT COME its not finished... I asked to speak to the manager who tells me before the secretary called he looked at the vehicle and it looked good so he told her to call, but it was wet because they were washing it.. Once it was dry he seen several screw ups in the fresh new paint AGAIN. So they are redoing the paint a THIRD time. He plans for it to be ready for me to get it tomorrow.... But at this point i wish i just kept it and used a touch up pen to fill in the chip in the paint. I miss my 4runner.

He apologizes like ten times and says he understands my frustration but he wants it to be perfect.... But how can a collision center that handles full paint jobs and body work screw up a door paint job multiple times?? And all of this is because the service department was too incompetent to do an oil change. Its hard for me to even believe this myself.

I have been keeping up with this insanity. They are a disgrace of a dealership & I am sorry you are going through this.
We had a similar issue with our last car. The biggest dealer/auto body repair center in the city took 3x to paint our front bumper with imperfections that remained in the final paint we accepted (either bubbles or bad masking jobs).
I can understand your frustration and hope that it comes out looking brand new tomorrow. All it takes is one paint person who cares!
    Good luck!

I would ask for free oil and parts for your inconvenience. They owe you more than fixing it!

That sucks man. As has been mentioned, they owe you extra at this point.

Maybe count all the failed paint attempts as lemon law and get a brand new 4Runner...;)

I have tried similar to this when treated the same @ a dealership. They will just offer to fix it repeatedly until they say "you need to take it elsewhere if we cannot make you happy. This is from the manager of the certified repair shop for Lexus (one Toyota), BMW, Mercedes and many other higher & lower brands. They have lawyers on retainer to take care of us! Very sad.
My suggestions is to get it painted the best they can. Document everything and report it to corporate as a package! They may offer to have another dealership paint or replace the door at this point.
As a major side note I would never return to that dealership (if they offer you money back in....) make sure it is parts not service. That way you can get maintenance/repair items as needed!
    Again, good luck.

I don't even want a new one. I love the one I got. No safety sense is a plus. Plus it's already lifted and modded to my likings. Less than 9k miles, so still pretty new. I don't wanna start over modding LOL

Thanks man. And yeah I'm never going back there. Even if it's a recall I'll go to another dealership even if I have to drive twice as far.

I've already called corporate. There's already a case number and everything. I just need to update them once I get it back... But corporate said even though the collision center says Toyota on it and even though the service department is connected to the dealership, they have very little persuasion with them as they're technically separate from the corporate office and the sales part of the dealership. They can inform the regional office and see if they can apply some pressure to get something done but apparently they can't force anything to happen.

I don't expect anything to happen. What would make me happy is the workers that are failing to do a good job to be retrained in their positions... But that's not likely either. It's all about money, they are already losing money on this, paying workers to do body work without getting paid and paying for my rentals this whole time. They'd rather pay their workers to go back to working on paid jobs than pay to retrain them I'm sure.

Hell, at this point I just want my vehicle back. Some oil/filters from the parts dept would be nice... But I'm not asking them for anything other than my keys...

95C9CFFA-B817-4A1E-AA9F-F69B196993D3.jpg Well the title says what did you do to your 5th Gen 4runner. It’s been sitting in my garage since the end of Nov. Had it out once since bring it home. Has about 40 miles on it. All this crappy weather we been having this week and it’s going in Monday to have the fluid film done. Want to keep the bottom clean because of getting that done. Also I plan on getting this roof rack off this weekend before it goes in for that. Guys think I’m nuts at work not driving it. Lol. But I use my beater car for work. I will have a nice holiday break from work so I will be playing with my toy with those 2 projects.

I will be driving this a lot when I get everything done with it. It’s nice getting things done with it being in my heated garage and it’s clean to work on things.

it’s hard to see in most pictures. But it’s the chrome molding at the bottom of each window.

I don't think that's factory, same as the chrome door handles. Dealer must have stuck overlays on it thinking it would look good.

Not in mine. But I have seen in other states where the dealer go ahead and put front holes for the license plate. Not sure what state he is in.

Got the ABS sensor fixed. No more Christmas tree dash, which is kind of bittersweet since it's Christmas time. o_O

And.. got the Tundra battery tray (see pic for part no.) for the 27F size battery. Will save for the battery after Christmas:spending:
