Body Mount Chop Locations

Hey guys,

I've got was Cooper Discoverer 285s on my t4r and unfortunately my ray 10 deep dish rims have such a significant negative offset, it's causing my tires to rub on the cars body mount. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a shop that would do a quality body mount chop for me if I supply the replacement plates.

I am in Colorado!

Where are you located? I had mine done at Timbos house, he does excellent work and supplies the plates. But we are in Florida.

I dont know anyone there... But i would also check the facebook 4runner group and check on tacomaworld as well. Im sure there are people, and businesses that do it in Colorado.

The plates were included... $150. He also did the fender liner mod, and trimmed my bumper because I was rubbing up front. He didn't charge any extra for that.... $150 is his normal body mount chop price.

I wasn't even rubbing on the body mount... Just the front bumper... I just did it all at once to be done with it because I off-road a lot and may decide to go with a different offset later or a bigger tire. I'm currently on 285/70s with a 17x8.5” wheel that's -10mm offset.

 

Just make sure you are actually rubbing on the mount and not just the bumper.

I was only rubbing the bumper.

How is your alignment? Mine were rubbing until I got a proper alignment.

 

Proper allignment was essential. I'm helped my son build up his '16 TRDPro w/ 35's and long travel Dobinsons lift. It rubbed until we got the BMC- no rubbing what so ever now. Next up is regearing and front ARB locker by RSG Offroad.

I've been waiting to get realigned before winter hits here in CO, but I'm getting pretty solid rub because of the offset of my rims. I don't think alignment will erase that

 

I'd love to see that setup with the 35's! I'd love to get 34's on my 2019, but I'm not sure if that's pushing it

 

We did a lot of trimming along with the BMC to get the 35's to work. We will be changing to some fiberglass fenders w/ a bigger wheel well opening early next year. I'll post photos when we're done.

 

Are you going with ADV fenders? I'm looking to get those in a couple wheels when my current 33's are work down. no need to get no tires when I've only got 15K on my current ones. Would love to see a video of some pictures of the trimming that was done inside the wheel well!

 

Yes- ADV fenders. Trimming on the stock fenders amounted to taking a Dremmel tool and cutting off the lower lip of the stock fender directly in front of the tire, moving the fender liners forward about 2" and trimming the bottom of the fender liner a little bit. Of course the long travel Dobinson's lift helped as it looks like it lifted the rig more than we expected. The 35's clear everything now (after the BMC) but will do so with more room when the ADV fenders are installed. We'll get them painted and installed by a body shop because I understand some trimming of the fenders will be required. We will also install a TJM snorkel in the new ADV fender. We are still figuring out how we are going to replace the stock fender liners with larger liners to fit the ADV fenders. It looks like Cody at GearTechCustoms.com (makes custom fender liners for 4Runners, Tacomas and Tundras) will be able to help us on the new fender liners after the holidays.

 

Sweet! Sounds like you have it all mapped out. I'm definitely wanting to grab some ADV fenders at some point they look great. I think that along with the BMC is the two biggest factors for allowing larger tires. Looks like i may need to get new rims to as 35s may be too wide for my current ones.

 

We're using Method Race Wheels 8-1/2" wide w/ 0 degree offset for the 35x12.50 Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tires.
