Looking for rear window Molle panels

Just put a pool noodle on the rear facing bar of the shelf to protect her head during the learning process.

 

Not sure trying to shim it higher will work as the back of the shelf almost touches the headliner.
1. I would watch the install video several times (I regret not doing)
2. Install nuts on top side of everything and screws from the bottom (I regret not doing)
3. Wait for the shelf to install everything at one time(I regret not doing)
4. Have a second set of hands to help hold things(thank goodness my daughter (13) knows what tools are, do, and how to use them)

 

Pleased to announce that installation of side panels and connecting shelf is complete. This project was a solo effort, went relatively well, only a couple of minor wrong turns. With a halfway decent set of written instructions this would have been a snap. One minor whine....the side panel kit used 10mm socket/wrench......while the shelf video instructs to use appropriate size similar tools.....which in my case, happen to be 11mm. If I weren't so endowed with such utensils, this discovery would have required a big box store visit which always tests my chances of salvation.

I was wise not to drink until the project was finished...

 

How do you like it so far?

 

I like it.....took some earlier advice and zip tied some pipe insulation on the rear shelf edge in case the dog elevates to much getting in. Doggie blankets, rope, maybe a cased hunting rifle.....solid as a rock.

 

Today I raised my rear seats for the first time in 6 months.....

 

Recycled a piece of the foam board used in shipping to line the shelf bed and absorb the excess screw penetration and eliminate any potential snagging loading and unloading cases rifles.

 

Be advised.....the lower priced raw versions of these systems arrive with a graphite like residue. I assumed since it stained my fingers it could end up somehow staining my cabin ceiling fabric. I wiped the components down with mineral spirits, but even then the issue persisted to a lesser degree. Just so you know.....if you can swing it the powder coat versions are hassel free.

I had completely decided to order these panels for both sides UNTIL reading that I would not be able to use the cargo cover. I don’t want to give up being able to cover whatever may be in the back. Oh well.

 

Get darker tint applied to the light factory tint on the back windows. People will not be able to see in, you’ll be able to use these MOLLE panels, and you’ll benefit from the additional cooling effect of darker tinted windows. Problem solved.

 

Y'all need to find me a rear hatch window molle panel.
Good for preventing smash and grab + looter / riot protection.

 

@victoryrunner Think you guys can manufacture a panel for the lift gate window, as well? Could be for security...

 

Not on the list right now, but maybe in the future!

 

Do any of these work with 3rd row seating? TIA
