Alright guys. I have to know what the hell can be put in these 2 compartments that seem to secure and fit nothing. Show us what you use them for. Let's see some switch panels.....

I usually have my registration, insurance and a few goody powders in there but they always end up in my 4WD shift boot when I kick the skinny pedal.....

Wallet spot for long trips is about it. Would be cool if a 2-way radio would fit there so it would be out of the way.

I got nothing. It's crazy to me how this thing lacks in interior storage from the factory.

Word. I loved all the nooks and crannies that my Ram truck had for storing things. Especially straps, jumper cables, trailer hitch, etc. Now I have a big ol' tool box in the back holding all of those things, and it takes up a fair amount of space.

I've done nothing with the upper cubby.

As for the lower cubby, I put a piece of thin, sticky backed rubber to line the bottom of it.
Found a scrap of the stuff at work and was able to trim it to fit perfectly.

Now, when I put my phone in there, it doesn't slide out while driving. Probably my favorite mod I've done to the 4Runner

yeah. I do love my 4Runner, but it carries about as much stuff as my wifes Camry. As for those slots, my garage door opener goes in the smaller one, since the visor is too thick for it to clip to. haven't found a good use for the other slot

    Is plasti-dip a mod?!
Oakley glasses in its bag on the bottom. When wearing the glasses, put the bag in the upper box. That’s it for me.

We use the upper for mints & they don't move. We are still looking to utilize the bottom one...

I know someone did a mod where they put a wireless charger in the bottom one.
I use it to keep a old iPod that I keep plugged that has a bunch of audiobooks and music on.
The upper one I store miscellaneous stuff chapstick carwash card ect.

I've been keeping the cleaning cloth for my Costa Del Mars in the top one.

I have a stack of extra napkins from McDonald's in the lower one right now.. It seems like there has to be a better use.

On a similar note, is anyone using either one of these console organizers? Or something similar? I'm actually thinking about getting both and hoping the top tray will fit in above the divider.

If it matters to you. We bought a no name brand top tray. I have seen the one you are looking at. The advantage to the cheap one is it comes with a hole to run a cord through to plug a device into.
    Let me find my pics.
Tip: push toward the front of the vehicle or the corner tabs will get caught in the incline & break the edges off.

For napkins; I put those in that stupid tissue holder in the top of the armrest.
For Toyota the interior is kind of here & there if you ask me...

    Thank you!

I've been using a couple of small tackle organizers in the console, but every time I pull one out, everything else shifts around in there and I have to take everything out to get it back in.

I agree that the storage in the 4runners seems lacking, or not very well thought out. I feel like my 2003 had more nooks and crannies. I'm a little surprised that there isn't anywhere to keep my sunglasses.

I sometimes keep my wallet in the tissue holder.

Sunglasses ride around 4x4 shifter with chapstick & lighter (need a better emergency fire source). However, as it is my wife's T4R, I always forget them! Glad I buy Stihl sunglasses due to my job (I value my eyes) & I have a few pairs. LMAO

Hey, I need the off-road goodies to compensate for my lack of off-road experience!

You'd think they could figure out how to fit the sunglasses holder in there somewhere.

    No regrets!

My sunglasses fit just fine in that goofy door shelf below the door handle. Yea, another compartment no one can figure out what the hell it is for.....

    Ha!

I keep mine on the armrest part of the door in front of the handle. It works well, but if you slam the door they wind up on the floor.

Good Question and just like most of you it seems like everything I place in there ends up on the floorboards. I’ve been thinking about purchasing a CB to install in the lower compartment because I need away to communicate with my son while hitting trails. Here’s what I’m thinking about purchasing & installing,

Have never heard of that brand. I wonder if the President Bill will fit there? It's more money but a pretty good radio. I just bought a CB from Uniden and hope to install it soon.
