Thanks! Not the ideal first post, apologies for starting out on a bad note! Otherwise my 4Runner is an awesome vehicle, what little I’ve driven it so far.

OP - This is a possible back up plan if my dealer decides to tell me to pound sand. Thought I’d share for you or anyone else facing this issue. I suspect we are the first of many. Either they are coming from the factory this way or the screen really is super soft. Like you I haven’t wiped mine either. I haven’t used these guys in the past, just something I found doing some research.

Are these screens the matte plastic screens that actually indent a little when you touch them (like previous year 4runners and the older touch screen cell phones)? Or are they a hard surface like an iPhone/3rd gen Tacoma?

Matte plastic. Surface reminds me of the smaller screened versions in 2018 and older Gen 5’s.

Dont wipe them dry. Wipe damp with plush new microfiber and then wipe dry with microfiber.

I haven’t wiped anything yet, which makes it all the more frustrating.

Whatsup with toyota stiking it to people. The 2017 corolla SE I had it was stickered at $21k. Entune has a nice shiny plastic hard when turned off. No physical buttons, they r like on the ps 3 just touch not push. Looks clean and slick high tech.

2020 4 runner stickered at $43k entune screen looks dull plastic and looks like it can scratch easily. Has physical buttons. I still love it though. I would not bother with a screen protector. If you try to remove it and it wont let gooo... Well ure screwed.
You guys be the testers and report back.

Have not pushed it hard to know. Touch screen works very good on default middle setting, no need to push hard. Wish It had a corolla SE entune system with 4 runner features. The corolla se has nice vibrant green bars on the screen.and it has auto headlights but not a 43k 4 runner.

    CANNOT HAVE IT ALL AHHHHH

Thats a long time I spent maybe 1 1/2 tops.

Made appointment with my usual sales guy did the paperwork and picked it up a week later. Mine wasn't on the lot so I wasn't going to sit there.

Just wanted to give an update.

I took the 4Runner to the experience manager today. He had me show it to one of the managers in the shop. He definitely saw the scratches. He tried to clean it with a microfiber cloth and screen cleaner. It didn’t fix it. The shop manager told me he would get with the experience person and see what they can do for me.

Hopefully it will turn out for the best and they will fix the scratches or replace it.

If they replace it. DO NOT USE chemicals to wipe dry.

Water Damp thick plush tagless microfibers no cheap junk. And then dry with a thick plush new microfiber. Eventually microfibers will degrade after a few washes and harden and roughen. Those then become dipstick wipers.

So at the end of the day what's the screen cost to replace out of pocket?

They would probably replace the whole head unit and not just the screen, I'm guessing.

I think a new head unit is around $4,000.

I haven't seen or felt the new 2020 screens, but this thread reminds me of the gauge cluster lenses on the gen. 3 Tacomas. I had success polishing my cluster lens with Griot's plastic polish. I'm not sure what the material of the 2020 screen is, whether plastic or glass, but a polish like this may help. I wouldn't touch it until your dealer makes a determination, but you may be able to improve it if they tell you to get lost.

If it’s the softer static style touch screen, absolutely don’t hit it with an abrasive polish.

Someone above said it’s the softer style. Sure looks like it in the photos. Amazing to me that Toyota wouldn’t have gone with the hard plastic like on the 3rd gen Tacoma head unit.

Looked at my screen and luckily no scratches! I'm guessing it came from the factory this way...? I don't know why they didn't make it a glass/crystal screen like an iPad? They already increased the price from last year...

Noticing these light scratches on ours too. Have about 500 miles on it so far and it seems to scratch from super light touches.

I have a screen protector arriving tomorrow too. I’m slapping one on the unit (whether it gets replaced or not). The scratches are really noticeable when the unit gets hit with direct sunlight.

Do you have a link for the screen protector you bought?

I posted it earlier in the thread. You just slap the screen dimensions in and they cut it to order.

Well after looking closely I have light scratches also... I'll just buy the protective screen and call it a day...

Totally agree. I only mentioned the polish if the surface was right for it. I have not seen the 2020 screens.

Interesting you say that. I can never get my gauge cluster to look good on my Gen 3, no matter what I cleaned it with. I’ll have to try that polish!

The Griot’s plastic polish worked really on the gauge cluster lens. I removed the plastic trim pieces around the radio and gauges first to improve access. Good luck!

I was wondering what dimensions did you use?

I’m still waiting on my 2020 4Runner it would be nice to have it already ordered and waiting for the truck. Thanks!
