I know auto dealerships have been owned, ran, and staffed by the most dishonest, immoral, and dumbest people on the planet for decades.

But after my latest experience and hearing about others horror stories, I think things are getting much worse out there.

It only gets worse in the used car market.
I am pretty sure I know of a shop doing a title wash on a Nissan GTR.
It showed up one day wrecked. Disappeared that same day (into the back of their "shop") while they buy pieces to sell a clean titled car.
If it isn't stolen. I bet they bought it for $10k & will self repair & go unreported and sell for $50k as a "clean" GTR.
    Very sad & angering...

    Nebraska doesn't have inspections.
If it is fixed under the table for cash. Is it not a clean car still?

Ya I got my last free one 15,000 miles ago. Kept getting this weird smell in the cabin. It really pissed me off, guess they overfilled it..I’m getting the filter wrench takes ten minutes....

Most places overfill during an oil change a little is alright but a quart not so much.

The last TDI I bought new came with 3 free oil changes. The VW dealer overfilled the engine all 3 times, which prompted me to do them myself (since 2010).

Just the other day I was going thru my wife's paperwork from the last time she had her Subaru serviced. The paperwork shows they added 7.15 quarts of 0W-20, and the new service sticker said the oil would be due in 6 months or 6000 miles. The owner's manual clearly states the interval is 7.5 months or 7500 miles, and engine oil capacity is 5.1 quarts. Needless to say, I'll be doing all of her oil changes from now on. Thankfully Subaru's 2.5L might be the easiest oil change in history.

Grab a 2020 - add speed booster or pedal commander and if she doesn't off road in it, don't lift it or get too big of tires, that will just slow it down. Just add better tires, will keep the power up and maybe add the Exhaust and CAI - to make it sound faster. She gets her technology - more sporty ride. The trade in will be high, just obviously use another dealer.

If she likes the 4runner in general, but wants a little more pep, it might be worth looking at a Lexus GX. Same platform, a little more tech and a nice V8.

    Otherwise, there's the supercharger option.

I went with the sprint booster. Eliminates any delay in throttle response and real makes the runner feel like it has pep. Once you try it you'll wonder why it took so long to get one!

The sprint booster might make it feel more responsive, but it doesn't make it fast. The acceleration of these trucks is adequate, but definitely not quick. If you want it to move fast, you have to add power.

Never said its fast but it is faster :), it boosts throttle response. no way possible to recreate by mashing the pedal to the floor. Don't knock it till you tried it. Its not snake oil.

It's not faster. It might respond quicker, but it's not faster. I understand they claim to remove a split second delay in throttle response. But, they don't re-tune the motor. You might get more instantaneous throttle response, but you're not gaining power.

The point is, if the OP's wife wants the truck to be faster, a supercharger will do that. A sprint booster won't.

Yeah most if not all dealerships probably fill from an automatic station problem is if your vehicle claims to take say 5 quarts at an oil change that doesn't mean it'll end up exactly on "full" with a full 5. If you add the total 5 without checking along the way you will over-fill it a little. When you change your oil your not getting out every drop just the way it is. When I say "a little" is ok to be over I'm talking about 1/4 of a quart or less not a crazy amount.

Have you driven a runner with a booster. If not just stop. We both now have said it's not faster but the throttle response is.
Throttle response makes a 4runner seem faster. I no longer strategically plan passing people on the highway or wonder if I can merge in traffic. It just goes and does so quickly. The 1st moment you drive it your amazed it's that noticable.
There's a guy on the other forum was gonna dump his runner or supercharge it as he couldn't stand how slow it felt. He put the booster in and is a happy camper because of how quick it feels

I don't mind if anyone gets a sprint booster, but I'm curious if it does 0-60 mph times quicker than a 4Runner without?

So easy. I put a Fumoto valve on my wifes Outback and it's the easiest oil change ever.

Out of curiosity, has anyone ever cut an access hole for the filer/drain plug in their 4Runners stock skid plate or is that a terrible idea?

I don't think overfilling your oil is as big a deal as people make it out to be.

Think of all the crazy approach and departure angles you can get this thing into and what your oil looks like during those moments.

I think you can go over more than 1/4 of a quart and you'll be fine.

Most don't need a boost to top end speed in this Truck to make it feel faster - just getting it up faster (less delay is faster) to a good RPM with momentum will do plenty to increase the sporty feel. Why is there always at least one that points out the most obvious feature that has been overly disclosed on every damn thread on the sprint booster. WE ALL KNOW SPRINT BOOSTER / PEDAL COMMANDER DOESN’T ADD HORSEPOWER.

I'm just saying don't say it's faster when it isn't. Feeling faster isn't the same as being faster.

The OP said that his wife would like a faster vehicle.

I made a suggestion on how to actually make it faster, and mentioned a similar vehicle that actually is faster.

Then, the pedal commander/sprint booster people came along and said that those products make the truck faster, and then admitted that they actually don't.

But, somehow I'm a jerk for pointing that out.

    I thought it was a legitimate question:D

It seems like people here can debate without fighting, for the most part. That's why I like this place, too!

And, sorry for getting off topic.

So to agree to disagree. Drive it and come back and say your not impressed. Other forum has tons of people in one thread and love it.
I came from Ford and same thing with pedal commander. Hundreds raved about it and I never bought in because my truck wasn't a dog like the 4runner is. Now, back to denied an oil change :)

I dunno I'm certainly no mechanic I've heard/read if you have a good amount over in there the oil foams up or something? Perhaps not with Synthetic but no clue. I purposely put like 1/4 quart over in my daily driver because it takes oil so it helps me in between checking it. Not going to do anything to the 4R got a garage I bring that too.
