What bells and whistles do you want to see in the 6th gen, besides a V8 option.

The same toyota reliability with more creature comforts and a vehicle that doesn't look like a crossover. #6thGen4Runner

Unfortunately, the 3.5L is probably going in the 6th gen.

With this being the most probable scenario, I would like to see that motor either turbo charged and/or have a hybrid option, mated up with an 8 speed trans.

It would also be nice if they made the 6th gen a little lighter so it wasn't such a heavy pig.

But as far as tech goes, I don't think I really need anything beyond what the 2020 will offer.

Other than that, just don't make it ugly, like a 4th gen.

    What kind of creature comforts?

Where are good places they could shave some weight?

I want to see the 3.5 Camry motor with fake Atkinson cycle in it. 8 speed trans. Unibody construction. Text and drive safety package of course. Carplay and any feature that makes me more lazy than I already am, like keyless entry, push button start, and auto headlights. Can we get auto wipers too? Autonomous driving? An make it look just like the Nissan Pathfinder with 5 inches of ground clearance. Gonna be awwwwwwesommmme!!!

A high torque, in-line 6. A manual 5-speed with a granny low and only one O/D gear. A transfer case with a 4:1 reduction. Solid front and rear axles with lockers.
A two door version. And the most important thing I can think of, a release of liability from ALL the stupid nanny bullshit like traction control, ABS, uphill/downhill crap
blah blah. Let me drive the damn thing. Shit sakes.

Basically what most modern SUV's have. A larger and more updated infotainment center, push to start, keyless entry, auto climate, ect.

From what I understand most of those are addressed in the 2020 model.

Also, better fuel economy without some crazy bullshit like weird torque curves or constant gear hunting.

I was unaware of 2020 version center console. I do see the new media center, but damn, there is a ridiculous amount of buttons and knobs. How are the Japanese missing the idea of simplicity in design?

2020 Range Rover center console looks awesome. Toyota should take notes. Is it really that much more cost to design something that is almost entirely a touch screen, with beautiful fonts, layout, and such? Kind of silly a $500 iPad can do way more than entire center console of the 4Runner which cost way more to replace. Probably a bit much for us offroad guys but it just feels like 2020 4Runner center console is 10 yrs outdated. When is Toyota going to wake up? Future cars are all going to be like Tesla, with a big screen for the entire center console.

I'm only talking about the center console comparison, not the other parts of the vehicle. I have no doubt the screen displays could last just as long as the rest of a 4Runner, even with lots of offroading. The new electronics have no moving parts, sealed orings around parts, and would be easy to replace too.

I would also love a 75 series Land Cruiser but it will never come here.

I'm hoping to see even more, "what's the largest tire you can run on a 6th gen", posts than 5th gen posts.

The more I look at my 4th gen the more I like it. something something rose colored glasses something.

I'd actually be interested in a plug-in hybrid version. And I'm a sucker for a nice big digital dash. Otherwise it could look exactly like the 5th gen and I'd be happy.

Turbo charger. The ORP available with the 3rd row seating. More charging ports. Better lighting.

I actually disagree with the "simplistic" designs. Most of those designs while visually appealing are difficult to navigate with one button functioning as a layered button for multiple functions. Once I remember where a button is and what it does, that function is simple. What muscle memory I will never develop is when a button opens a menu, which requires me to scroll and then select what I'm actually looking for.

Good points, but if the UI is designed correctly, it should work great, just like your phone / tablet. It also opens the possibility for a lot of new tools and fun things they can add to the infotainment system, vehicle management tools, etc. While I don't own Tesla and perhaps never will, having ridden in a few, they are absolutely doing it right when it comes to this sort of thing. They really make all other manufacturers look way behind times when it comes to center console stuff. The days of this old style analog buttons and dials all over the place are numbered. Surprised the big manufacturers haven't figured this out yet.
