Cranked the car yesterday, lost all power to a/c controls. No blower, no lights on switches, no outdoor temp showing , no remaining miles on tank of gas. Entire cluster below radio is powerless except clock which is still working and pass side airbag light. Checked all fuses with volt meter, plugged and unplugged, swapped relays around, still no power. Have never had any issues with this, happened all at once.2005 4runner 4.7 v8. Ideas?

Sounds like your alternator may be going out.

Checked alternator today and it's putting out 14.2 running , which sounds about right. 12.6 On the battery only.

I believe this is a fairly common problem, where the A/C panel dies. Motherboard going bad, circuitry probs, etc, and has to be replaced.

They are stupid expensive from the dealer so check eBay first.

Also, check AC amplifier behind the unit, which controls all of this display and information.

    Part #88650-35190 or 35200

Also, check the wire harness in back of the display and make sure it didn't fall out of the socket. There is no catch to hold it in place. Obviously you'll need to remove the bezel.

I replaced the AC compressor when the AC stopped cooling and all is fine now. I have 2005 SR5 with 150,000 miles AC compressor (Denso) at Amazon was $195.

Contact a good mechanic for the troubleshooting. Any codes?

What about battery connections? condition? Battery has to be replaced after 4 years IMO.

    Poster with 4runner:

"Had a similar problem on my 97. Got battery tested and it was weak. Replaced battery. Problem returned. Replaced battery terminal connectors and haven't had a problem since. Keep them free of corrosion.
I check for corrosion when I check oil level which is every fill up."

Purchased the A/C panel on EBay used, plugged it in and it did exactly the same thing, nothing worked. Ordered the A/C amplifier, plugged it in and everything worked. Solved that issue with the help from this forum, thanks so much.
